Bridal Showers make for a really great way to pull in fun themes and reflect the bride as an individual whereas the wedding is an amalgamation of both the bride and groom’s tastes. The Bride, Melanie [My (Krista) little sister], loves all things vintage and tea so we went running that that idea and played off a Tea Party Themed Bridal Shower. We created simple but chic invites using the same fonts as their wedding invitations but instead pulled in a more vintage vibe with hand sketched illustrations and raspberry/cream accents.
As guests came in they were greeted with a pen and giant Popsicle stick. Following instructions via the personalized framed signage; they were encouraged to write a date idea for the bride and groom. The couple would later pick from the ideas at random when they wanted a new and fun date idea [ie: go for a walk and feed the ducks, have an indoor picnic, play board games all night…].
Finger foods, little desserts and gorgeous flower arrangements accented the table. A Tea Bar was created along the kitchen island with various types of loose leaf tea which we hand selected from David’s Tea. Wishtree had a lot of fun with the tea labels, too—for each tea we wrote out its description with some slight edits to reflect the bride and groom:
Birdy Berry [Prairie Berry] | This fruity OOLONG blend is a celebration of Melanie & Joey’s favourite past-time; Birding. Jam-packed with berries and sweetened with maple syrup, it makes for the perfect cup to go along with binoculars and bird feed.
The final touch? Everyone received a tea diffuser ball to use and keep as a Thank You favour.
We also played a couple of quizzes: “How well do you know the Bride” and “He said, She said”. Both quizzes evoked some sort of story from each guest and it made for a sweet keep-sake for Melanie to read over later. Can I just point out that BOTH Melanie and Joey said that what they’re most looking forward to on their honeymoon in Las Vegas is Celine Dion!? I think it’s safe to say that these two are definitely meant to be!
All in all, it was a successful bridal shower filled with many Melanie-esque details. We loved personalizing everything through the invites, signage and many other printed stationery pieces.
Big congratulations to Melanie! From playing make-believe and hide-and-go-seek in the dark, to bridal showers and love advice, my little sister is growing up! The count down is on til your wedding day and I couldn’t be more excited for you!
